CPF

Firstly, a foreigner who intends to invest in Brazil needs to apply for a CPF, which stands for “Natural Person Registration” and is a fiscal identification document issued by the Federal Treasury. A CPF is essential for a foreigner who wishes to acquire estate properties or set up a company in Brazil. To apply for a CPF the only required document is a valid passport. In case a foreigner is represented by a third party, a power of attorney is required.
