We hereby present some guidance to foreigners who are willing to invest in Brazil.

PERMANENT VISA

Getting a permanent Brazilian visa can result basically from the following circumstances: Marriage to a Brazilian spouse or in the event of having Brazilian children; Retirement with capacity to prove at least a two-thousand dollar remittance per month; being a director of a foreign company established in Brazil, and investing at least R$ 150.000,00 (Fifty thousand dollars) in a Brazilian company.

Amongst the permanent visa types mentioned above, the most requested by the foreign investors in Brazil is the one granted to foreigners investing at least R$ 150.000,00 (Fifty thousand reais) in a Brazilian company. Such investment must be registered in the Brazilian Central Bank through the SISBACEN system (Brazilian Central Bank Electronic Declaratory Registry for Direct – RDE – IED – Investments). The process will take place at The Labor Department, and the visa will later be sent to the Brazilian General Consulate in the foreigner’s origin country or another one which he or she wishes.

In special cases The Labor Department will grant permanent visas for foreigners investing an amount lower than R$ 150.000,00 (fifty thousand dollars), once these foreigners present a plan to absorb Brazilian workforce throughout the five following years, and such plan is able to generate at least 10 new jobs.

Mychelle Maciel Advogados assists with the procedures to acquire all the types of visas mentioned above, assuring the foreign investor a hassle-free and safe permanence in the country. For more information, please contact us.
